Manitoba Telehealth
The Télésanté en français initiative was put in place to improve access for French-speaking Manitobans to health and social services in their language.
Services available through Télésanté en français
- Clinical services (medical appointments, case conferencing, etc.);
- Support for healthcare and social services professionals (training, videoconferences, etc.); and
- Information sessions (health promotion and chronic disease prevention).
History
The Télésanté en français initiative materialized in 2005 through the joint efforts of the Centre de Santé de Saint-Boniface, the RHA – Central Manitoba Inc., South Eastman Health / Santé Sud-Est inc., Manitoba Health, MBTelehealth and the Canada Health Infoway. Additional funding was later provided by Health Canada via the Société Santé en français.
Telehealth sites were established in several francophone communities in Manitoba. Additionally, Santé en français and the Université de Saint-Boniface (USB) approached MBTelehealth to establish a professional development site at the USB.
Each of the over 100 Telehealth sites in Manitoba can accommodate a request for French language services.
