The Centre de ressources Santé en français was established in 1992 following the recommendations made by Maurice Gauthier in his Study on French-Language Services in Manitoba’s Health Care Facilities. The resource centre supported designated bilingual health and social services organizations in delivering services in French.

When Santé en français was established in 2004 (then known as the Conseil Communauté en santé du Manitoba [CCS]), it assumed responsibility for the resource centre. Through the centre, Santé en français provided support services to the regional health authorities, the child and family services authorities, and the organizations and facilities identified in funding agreements with the Department of Health and the Department of Families. The services were provided to the health sector until March 31, 2026, and continue today under the Department of Families.

Today, Santé en français provides language training and translation services exclusively for the social services sector.
